York Cup and York Rec Tournament Update
Saturday, May 21, 2016

The York Cup Committee has decided for the safety of the players, considering the conditions of the fields, to cancel all scheduled games for Sunday.

For those teams who have participated in this year's 2016 York Cup Classic Tournament, a $100.00 discount will be offered to participate next year in the 2017 York Cup Classic Tournament. For those teams who participated in the 2016 York Recreational Tournament, a $40.00 discount will be offered to participate in the 2017 York Recreational Tournament.

This was an agonizing decision for the committee, but it is made with the best interest of all parties concerned. We understand that this is very disappointing news for you and your team. We are as unhappy about the outcome as you are. That being said, we cannot control the weather which is the driving reason behind this decision.

John Fellenbaum, York USA Director of Coaching, recommended reading from Mike Woitalla at Soccer America's Youth Soccer Insider...

Fall 2015 Game Days
Wednesday, July 8, 2015

York USA will once again apply its Primary Game Day Policy to the scheduling of league games. All clubs, teams, coaches, players, and parents are reminded that factors such as referee availability, field availability, special requests, or rainouts may result in deviations from this schedule.

Further everyone should understand that there is a greater likelihood of referee and field availability conflicts with our fall season coinciding with the boys and girls high school soccer seasons.

Saturday, March 21, 2015

York USA is happy to welcome approximately 70 new referees starting with the Spring 2015 soccer season. As these newly trained and certified referees, along with the returning experienced referees, officiate our games this season. The York USA Board of Directors, officers of our member clubs, and York Area Soccer Referee's Association (YASRA) ask for your positive support and cooperation with the referees at all times. They have a challenging and sometimes difficult task and do so to the best of their abilities. We especially ask for your understanding and patience with those new referees as they enter this noble profession.

Remember that verbal abuse or negative criticism of referees is as unacceptable as verbal abuse or negative criticism of players and will not be tolerated.

Concussions in Sports
Wednesday, August 14, 2013

In accordance with Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA) policy, and in support of PA Act 101, all member organizations and their affiliates must educate its coaches, players, and parents regarding concussions.

Laws of the Game Revisions and Clarifications!
Tuesday, August 31, 2010

York USA recently adopted modified, age appropriate Laws of the Game to govern play in our league while providing reasonable consistency with surrounding leagues (for the purpose of tournament play) and to foster development in accordance to US Youth Soccer guidelines and recommendations. These laws may be down loaded from our Forms page.

  • The size of the penalty area (14 yards) was inadvertently left out of the recently adopted York USA league U10 8v8 Laws. This document has now been revised and re-posted.
  • The York USA Game Standards remain our core set of rules governing play within the league. The new U6 through U10 modified Laws of the Game supercede the Game Standards where there is a difference in the provided guidance.
  • Play in U12 and older travel-level age groups reamain governed by our legacy York USA Game Standards.
  • Play in U12 and older a recreational-level age groups remain governed by our York USA Game Standards except where superceded by our Recreational Soccer Rules.
